Will's Boyscout Backpacking Trip (July 9, 2012)

I am grateful for boy scouts for many different reasons. My boys get to learn many helpful things and have a lot of fun. For this camp out, they backpacked in. I let Will borrow my super cool, super light backpacking equipment. He had the lightest pack of all the boys by far! At one point on the trail, Will switched his pack with another boy that was struggling with their heavier pack. Will is known for being thoughtful of others and very kind.

Will is the Deacon president right now. The bishop and many others have come up to me commenting on how good Will is. How he always very organized and tries hard to get all the boys involved. They tell me he is a good leader and that I should expect great things from him. I'm very proud of you Will. Currently, he has the most merit badges earned out of our entire ward scouts. He has a goal to earn all the merit badges. We are trying. He is at 43, so we only have 87 to go!

First day of school (Sept 4, 2012)

This is my first year not to be working when my kids go to school! This is Tyler's last year of being in elementary. It is exciting to have him start 6th grade. This year should be better than the last because we now have him on medication, which helps him concentrate and sit still at school.
Tyler, 11 years old, 6th grade

Will, 13 years old, 8th grade

Will is starting his 2nd year in Jr High. This year he is taking honors math & history. He is also taking his 2nd year of the clarinet. He is getting so big so fast.

Roos Family Pictures (Sept 9, 2012)

We finally got our family picture taken and it wasn't even somebody's wedding! My side of the family (the Roos's) have not been very good at getting professional pictures taken. I think the last family picture (that wasn't a wedding) was before my sister Natalie was born! I am very happy with how the pictures turned out. I love my family and am glad we finally got a picture of all of us together.

It has been great with all the temples being built in Utah lately. It had been a good opportunity to take my children to the temple and teach them why temples are so important. The visual of the actual inside of the temple helps the lessons sink in I think. I can hardly wait until they reopen the Ogden Utah temple so my kids can go through that one with me.

Tyler & Toby sleepover (Aug 21, 2012)

Tyler and Toby always have a fun time together. I let them sleep in their tent in the kitchen. I'm glad Tyler loves to play with his cousin.

Kim & Dave truck driving trip 2 (Aug 13 - 16 2012)

The California sand dunes were amazing! They are so pretty and unlike anything I have seen before. You could see the ripples in them as they move with the wind. They come out of nowhere really. It's a weird place for them to be really. You are just driving along the desert, then you come up to these beautiful sand dunes, then you are back to desert.

David, gathering his courage to leave the nice air conditioned truck and go out into 115 degree temperate to unload. I had the nice excuse of them not allowing other people out and about their work area to stay inside the cool truck.

Our load delivered right on the US/Mexico boarder in Calexico. The mountains are in Mexico. It was very, very hot. I got out of the truck for only a few minutes and was hit by such a strong heat wave! Dave had to unstrap his load of solar panel posts out in this heat. I was surprised that the locals were not dieing of heat stroke. They must be used to this type of insane heat. Maybe they should come visit Utah now (January 2013) where we have single digit temperature and snow up to our knees.

These two pictures are of the United States/Mexico boarder. It is not what I thought it would be. I think I've seen too many movies. I half expected to see armed drug men on the boarder. David wouldn't let me out of the truck to stick my hand through the fence.

This is in the southern end of Arizona, in Ajo. It was the prettiest desert I have ever seen. Much prettier than our sagebrush desert. It looked almost fake, like a painting. It was so hot, they didn't have the ugly desert bushes and plants that we have, it was just dirt and a few plants. Very cool.

Dave is such a good person. The guy in this picture got darn lucky. We got a call just outside of  Las Vegas Nevada from a truck driver Dave knew who needed help. The guy was unloading at a military base and didn't have his drivers license with him. Well, if you don't I.D. you can't come close to getting on base. The odds of us being within 20 miles to help him was extremely coincidental. So I waited on the side of the road in our truck while Dave went in and drove this guys truck for him so he could unload. #1 - my husband is a kind, helping man #2 - how on earth is this guy a truck driver if he isn't smart enough to carry his drivers license with him! With all the ports and cops, how on earth has he made it this far without ID??? I'm glad he is not driving for us.

Mt Shasta in California was very pretty. The water in the rivers were a turquoise color. They say it is from the minerals. It was a beautiful place.

We unloaded our black sand in Oregon. Oregon is always a beautiful place. It reminds me that we really do live in a desert.

Of course, leaving Oregon you bring home wood.

We went past a cool dam

My good friend Robyn (Aug 11, 2012)

Kim and Robyn with her kids

Robyn is one of my closest friends growing up. After high school, she moved away to Washington. Whenever she comes to Utah, we try to get together. Growing up, Robyn was my strongest influence for good and for the gospel. When we were teenagers, her testimony and devotion was so strong. I would say it was one of the strongest (adults included) I have ever known. She really helped me build my own testimony and love for our Savior. She was sharing her thoughts and feeling about patriarchal blessings with me and was inspiration for me to obtain my blessing. She was such a good friend. I want my boys to have friends like her in their lives, to help build them up. Robyn was also the only friend I invited to the hospital to meet my daughter Natalie. When I first met Robyn, I felt as if I had already known her. It was a very strong feeling. I can recall those feelings today. We often wondered if we had been good friends in the pre- existance. I love you Robyn, always have, always will.

Kim & Dave's yearly truck trip (Aug 6, 2012 - Aug 10, 2012)

This was our load down to Texas. It was fun watching them drive them onto our trailer.

My sexy hubby hard at work. Man I love his strong arms!

In Texas, while we were waiting to load a big wind/rain storm came out of nowhere. It was so bad they had to close the doors to the loading area and wait out the storm. I got a little scared because the loaders were showing me how the clouds were twisting together while they told me how they had a tornado there a week ago and they though we might get another one that night! All I could think of was good thing that Tyler was not with us. Although, I had a perverse desire to see a tornado in real life.I spent my time looking out the window, waiting for the tornado to come.

Kiersten and Kanyon came to visit as we unloaded our trailers. Kanyon loves his Ga papa. Aren't they cute together.
