Truck Trip with Dave (June 2011)

This year I got to go to Washington, only a couple miles from the Canadian border and to Chicago IL with Dave in our semi-truck! It was so much fun! Although the twisty, limited sight, mountain roads of Washington got me a little motion sick. It sure is beautiful up North. The majority of where we went however, the rivers were overflowing. It made me grateful for where I live.

It is always fun to drive through Chicago. Although, it took us hours to go only a couple of miles. . . I think I would go insane or have extreme road rage if my commute were always that horribly long.

I always enjoy my truck trips with my husband. It is nice to get the one on one time with him.

Will 6th grade graduation (June 3, 2011)

It is hard to believe my son is graduating from elementary and going onto Jr High!!! Time goes by so fast with your children. Will is a great student and I have no doubt he will do a great job in Jr High. All of his teachers have loved working with. He has not gotten in trouble once in the past 7 years! I'm proud of you Will!

Yard work (May 2011)

I love our front yard, but you can't have a yard like this without a lot of work! We got new woods chips this year & it took a few weeks of trash days with the city to get rid of all the old bark. Good thing it is worth all the work.

Grandma Buck's Funeral (April 27, 2011)

Grandma Buck made it to 100! This was one of those funerals where you are happy for the person who passed on. Grandma was so ready to go and be with her husband again. It makes me happy to picture her with her husband again!

6th Grade baseball with parents (May 27, 2011)

I am not very good at baseball. Good thing the ball never made it out to me!

 

Will's best friend Evan Rhees. 

Every year the 6th graders have a game of baseball with their parents. It happened to land on the same day as Dave's Grandma's funeral, so I was only able to stay for a few innings. It was fun though, Will looked forward to it all year long, so I was glad I was able to attend part of it.

Piano Recital (May 21, 2011)

I really enjoy the boys piano recitals. They do a great job! Will played Pink Panther. It's a music piece of Dave's that he started out teaching himself to play. I hope they both stick with the piano.

Will 12th birthday & friend party (May 1, 2011)

Will's Dad Bill bought him a sleeping bag for his birthday. So Will wanted a tent to go with it, so he spent what little money he has managed to save on a tent.

After persuasion and the fact that Daddy Dave was out of town :) I agreed to let the boys set the tent up in the front room and spend the night in it. Even the cat decided to join them.

 

Will had his friend birthday party at Boondocks. He had a lot of fun with his friends.

Boys choir program (April 27, 2011)

The top picture is really dark. Tyler is on the 2nd row to the bottom, on the very end in his scout uniform. This is our first choir practice. The boys did a great job! I am going to have Tyler do it again next year!

Easter (April 2011)

Ok, so I haven't blogged for awhile. Time to make up for the past months. . . So these will be short & sweet.

Every year my Mom has an Easter party. The kids get to color eggs, we have good food and we have an egg hunt. We look forward to this tradition every year. Every family gets a color. My family gets the color yellow. This picture is Will helping his cousin Max.

Will and the Aaronic Priesthood (May 4, 2011)

Will received the Aaronic Priesthood 3 days after his 12th birthday. It was a very special occasion. His Grandma & Grandpa Roos and Grandma & Grandpa Buck came over for the event. His Dad Dave gave him the priesthood. There is nothing like watching your husband give your son the priesthood along with a father's blessing, especially when it is a joined family. It warmed my heart and touched my soul. I will never forget this day or the words David said to my William. I am so proud of my son and my husband for being worthy to hold the priesthood. I now have two priesthood holders in my house!

To celebrate Will getting his priesthood, we went to the Logan temple and did baptisms for the dead. For years I have been telling my boys when they turned 12, I would take them out of school and we would go to a temple of their choice to do baptisms for the dead. Will's birthday falls towards the end of school, so we had to plan it on a day when they were not doing testing during school. So on Tuesday May 10, Will and I drove to the Logan temple.

The temple was absolutely beautiful! The first time I entered the Logan temple was to be sealed to my wonderful husband David and now, my second time to enter the Logan temple was for my son's first time to do temple work. So needless to say, the Logan temple holds a very special place in my heart.

The workers there are absolutely amazing! They took great care of me and my son. A nice older man who works there took my son aside, seeing how it was his first time to do baptisms for the dead and talked to him about the importance of what he was about to do. He gave great words of wisdom and great promises if Will remains worthy to enter the temple.

I did baptisms with him. It had been such a long time since I had done this particular ordinance. It brought tears to my eyes when I watched Will walk into the font. The water was so high, it almost came up to his neck. When Will was done, he was saying how he wanted to go again. So now we are planning our next trip to the Salt Lake temple. Our goal is to go together 12 times a year and hit as many different temples as we can (in Utah that shouldn't be to hard)!

Thank you for such a wonderful day William and such precious memories. I love you and am so very proud of the man you are becoming. You are my light and joy in life.
